Hey y'all! The past few months for me have been incredibly stressful as I've been trying to balance schoolwork while applying to colleges. I'm sure if you're applying to college this year, you completely understand. Even if you aren't applying yet, life can be stressful in many ways, even ones that are completely unrelated to school. Whatever stress you may be feeling, it's super important to take time to decompress and relax. With this being said, I am going to dedicate this blog post to touch upon some ways you can de-stress!
Create time in your day to do something you enjoy- whether it be for 15 minutes or an hour! If you enjoying riding your bike, try to plan your day around a bike ride! If you enjoy watching tik-tok or scrolling through social media, give yourself a short break during the day to do just that! By having breaks planned in to your schedule, you give yourself something to look forward to, which you'll begin to think of as a reward if you accomplish a certain task before the break!
Workout! Exercising is a wonderful way to release endorphins and get some built up anxiety out of your body! If you put your energy into working out, you will feel accomplished afterwards and the endorphins released while doing so will help clear your head and take away some of the stress you may be feeling.
Eat something healthy and tasty! You'll fuel your body to be more productive while enjoying a good meal. Oftentimes, when I feel stressed or upset, if I eat something, my blood sugar levels return to normal and I feel much better.
Stress you're feeling internally often manifests itself on your skin- use this as your chance to take better care of your skin to relieve it of the stress. Face masks are great ways to help your skin breathe, but simply cutting back on makeup and products with high concentrations of chemicals or ingredients will also make a huge difference.
Take a relaxing bath or shower using steamers with essential oils. Showers/baths are great ways to relieve your body of stress, and using essential oil can also help. I love to use shower steamers while I'm showering, and afterwards I always feel relaxed from the scent. Before you get in the shower or bath, take time to put your stress and negative thoughts out of your mind as it should be time you take for yourself to mentally recover. Lastly, doing this without your phone will give you the best benefits.
Plan out your tasks according to their priority and deadline. If you have a project due, work on that first, before beginning smaller tasks that may be due after the project. By doing this, you will have a clearer mental idea of when everything must be finished by, and when you're going to do it.
I hope this post helps y'all de-stress in any type of way, and I hope you all remember that the stress you may be feeling is temporary! Push forward and know that everything will workout the way it is supposed to.
XOXO,
Sophie
