Hey y'all! The first step to having healthy skin is to establish a skincare routine that works for you. Of course each person is different, but I am going to share what I've found works best for me and what dermatologists typically recommend.
1. If you're wearing any kind of makeup, or just recently worked out, I would start by using a product such as Micellar Water or face wipes to remove any sweat or dirt. My favorite are the CeraVe Micellar Water, and the Nuetrogena ones. Nuetrogena also makes gentle makeup wipes which make my skin feel super soft and clean!
2. Next, use a gentle cleanser with warm water and a clean cloth on your face. I use Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser and LOVE it. It helps my skin look more evenly colored and also calms any spots I have. While it is not designed specifically for acne it does a great job keeping acne away.
3. Follow up by rubbing a facial moisturizer onto your skin. It is best to do this right after you wash while your skin is still damp, as it helps the skin tissue to absorb moisture better. Make sure whichever moisturizer you choose is thin, and oil free.
4. Lastly, you can go ahead and use topicals or spot treatment. I have found a few that work well, Differen Gel being my favorite, but often times they just mess with your skin's PH balance and irritate it. As long as you see improvements, keep applying it... but if you're not happy with the results, I would throw it out and see how your skin reacts to a simpler routine.
Soo... to summarize! First remove any access dirt/oil, then use a gentle cleanser to wash your face. Apply a thin coat of moisturizer while your skin is damp, and use a topical if desired! It may take some time to find which products work best for you but like always, be patient and beautiful results should occur!
